There is no direct evidence that Arthur ever existed, although there is a "black" period of approximately 470-550 where an Arthur like figure probably existed. I suggest reading books by Rodney Castledon (my favourite of the Arthurian historians, althoguh his specialty is archeology), Geoffrey Ashe (a really good writer, although I have some issues with his theories. He is too biased regarding his research, fame wise he is the msot popular of the Arthurian researchers), Alcock (the man behind the south cadbury excavation, a very poor writer but informative) and John Morris (a bit out of date and with some strange unsubstatiated ideas, but still good for backgroudn info) if you want to learn about the historical Arthur.

PostPosted: Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:38 pm    Post subject: New theory on king Arthur Reply with quote

I have read a lot on this subject and only recently found this new theory by David F. Carroll on who Arthur really was. His book is called "Arturius A Quest for Camelot", and I must say I think he's got it right. He has actually evidence which proves Arthur was a Scottish Dux Bellorum, no king but a prince. I do encourage anyone interested in this subject to read his book. You can download it for free at www. .legendofkingarthur.

I did a lot of research for my book Dracula vs. King Arthur www. .silentdevil. .com and came to the conclusion that Arthur is a amalgam of several different legends and historical figures.
