My family originally came from Munich, Germany. I was told by a family member that there is a castle in Germany(Eckert Castle) which is my last name and I would be interested in finding out if there really is one and if there is where it is located, although I was told it is in Munich...any info. would be greatly appreciated, thanks |

I found a post on one forum from Reinhard ECKERT, that could be interesting to you:
"ECKERT, Reinhard
Siegen, Germany
The mystery around the family ECKERT from Schloss Ellguth / Ligotha Zamecka is now clear. I had found six sisters and brothers of my grandfather and their children. Only one daughter of my grandaunt Marie is missing. This is my new submission: Ursula ECKERT born circa 1921 at Schloss Ellguth-Kreuzburg in Oberschlesien (Ligotha Zamecka-Kluzcbork in Upper Silesia now Poland). Her mother was Marie Eckert, not married, her grandparents were Gottlieb ECKERT, died 1929 and Beate DEUS, died 1941. Her mother had six sisters and brothers: Fritz, Paul, Marta, Richard, Gottfried and Hermann. Her mother worked as a nurse at Magdeburg, died 1978-1979. Ursula lived until 1945 at Schloss Ellguth, in a great red house, and emigrated to the USA, circa 1945. She is still living there. Is there any chance to find her? Any help would be appreciated. I am Silesian Researching: Eckert, Pirnke, Deus. Pfueller, Nowak, Beilig, Scholz, Breitenborn, Mundry, Leutert, Seja, Bragulla and Matussek"

Hi,
Schloss Ellguth is not a castle!! It is only a simple village near Kreuzburg Upper Silesia. In this village, in former times, lived the workers from the Schloss "Ritter vom Roten Stern".
Best regards
Reinhard Eckert
