Castles were built to protect the people who lived in them. They were often built on hilltops or surrounded by water to make them easier to defend. Bodiam Castle was a manor house in Sussex, England, that was strengthened to resist French attacks in the 1300s.

Castles were built for many reasons. Two main ones being to protect the inhabitants, the second being defence. Thats all you're getting from me, I've got my own one to do, mate. Wink

[size=18][/size]castles were built on hills so that people in the castle could see enemys coming. When the enemys got there they would have to climb a huge hill before attacking. This would make them tired and easier to defeat. Laughing

stone for keeps and concentric castles
