The Hohentwiel Castle ruins sits atop a mountain with a very nice commanding view of the modern city, other little stadts, more ruins, and part of Lake Konstanz. To get to the ruins you have to walk up a sometimes very steep and winding partially paved path. You start off near the old cementary, gradually working your way up at increasing inclines. (The walk is a tiring one, if you aren't used to going up-hill) You walk on gravel, dirt, and finally cobblestones. When you get inside the castle proper, the tiring walk is more than paid for when you start getting the higher-up views that I did. You see the winding roads, the rolling hillsides, and more ruins in the distance. The mountain that Hohentwiel Castle is on, is also known for having Germanys highest vineyards, which are along some sides of the mountain. The many many views you get from inside the castle are all well worth the time. I hope to be able to go there again.
