This is a sixteenth-century castle raised upon an old Irish ring-fort. It rises to four stories and an attic, and the lower part of one of its walls makes up part of the wall of a six sided surrounding bawn. It has a central machicolation box at parapet level on each of its four walls. The castle has been restored with a great deal of care, and it is open to visitors during the day from April to September. During this season, medieval banquets are held in the tower-house.
