| The ancient castle of the Moors at Sintra
is the oldest castle in the town's vicinity. Little remains of it
but the ramparts and exterior walls, and those require a considerable
climb to reach. But the walk along the old walls and the view from
there are well worth the effort. Beware: The gates close at either
6:00 pm or 7:00 pm (depending on the season), and you will not be sought
out within the grounds. The grounds are far to expansive to seek out
the few visitors that may be there and there are no records of who went in
and came out. So unless you want to spend the night within the walls
of this ancient ruin, leave in time. If you do want to stay for the
night, there doesn't seem to be any charge, and no one will ask any
questions. Take food and water |
