No castle overlooks Chatellerault. Usseau is North of the city and out of sight of tChatellerault. The castle in Chatellerault is near the river not far from the city center and is hard to see. It is not much in comparison to the many wonderful castles within easy drive of Chatellerault. My great Aunt lives in the old tower of the city not far from the ruins of Saint Catherines Gate and the site where Joan of Arc entered the village in 1429. The most prominent site in Chatellerault is the Henri IV bridge. If ever in Chatellerault visit the Industry Bar an outstanding example of French Cafe culture and a great place to eat!

Could it be the castle in Usseau ? If so I could send you a picture.
