and my mother and father even went to germany looking for it with no luck Sad

I have also heard of this castle since I was little. I am headed to Germany in about a week and will let you know if I find it. We are also going to visit the town of Muchow. =-)

I am also a Muchow from Pennsylvania and heard about a town named after 'Muchow" in Germany. Has anyone been there; and is the Castle there?

My ggrandparents were Muchows from Allegheny Co., PA. My grandmother always said she was descended from a Baron Von Muchow, but I have not found any evidence yet.

The Muchow "castle" is actually in the Czech Republic.
I remember finding it once on the internet a long time ago.
I am looking through my archives for the info again.
What I remember right now is that it was set up along a trade route in north west Czech.
At the time I read about it there was only a foundation left.

The castle is named Muchow Fortress and it is located near Mountain Schouf,Prague,Czecho-slovakia. It was built in 1100 A. .D. .and guarded cross roads there. Other fortress there were Nawarow,Schauf and Schwartz,these guarded the highway to Germany. The highway was infested with robbers, thieves and highway men. Soldiers had to escort the travelers and carvans through the road. Also there was religious persecution in the area.
